 Domaine du Banneret
Located in the Rhone Valley, Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'terroir' is world-famous. The Banneret estate is a small, family-owned vineyard consisting of five parcels of land, all around the famous Castle ruins and totalling about 8 acres. The vineyard maintains its allegiance to the "13 grapes symphony" tradition of Chateauneuf and the vines are planted in the exact same location as did the ancestors of the Vidal family. The vines are very old and, with low yields, produce wines of great quality. Harvests are always manual. The grapes are carefully cut and sorted, then crushed and de-stemmed for a slow maceration without the addition of yeast. The wine then goes to oak barrels and is aged for 18 months, all the time being checked for clarity through many decantations. These methods create a wine that is crimson in hue, powerful with highly complex aromas and retaining its original tannins. After bottling, the wine is further protected by a long cork while it continues to age. It can be cellared for 10-15 years.
Banneret Blanc CdP '15 (#2-19)

This is a very small production of 1200 bottles and allocated to select importers.

Grapes: 40% Grenache Blanc, 40% Clairette, 10% Picardan, 5% Roussane & 5% Bourboulenc

Region: Rhone Valley Vineyard:  Domaine du Banneret
Banneret Châteauneuf du Pape Rouge 2015 (#2-24)

The spicy nose that is characteristic of Banneret is certainly present.  A nose of figs, spices and maybe mesquite (?) gives way to a mouthful of raspberry, red currant and fruitcake.  A long, rich finish teases with tobacco and chestnut notes.  This wine will still be excellent fifteen years from now.

Grapes: All thirteen grapes of the appellation included in the blend.

Region: Rhone Valley Vineyard:  Domaine du Banneret
