Bagnard is the top red cuvée of Château Les Valentines red wines. The blend comes from a selection of old vines and is aged from 12 to 18 months in demi-muids (600 liter barrels). Cool coastal breezes which help to moderate the hot summers contribute to the lovely fruit flavors and palate cleansing acidity that this wine has to offer.  Full bodied and complex with concentrated black and red fruits, hints of cacao, espresso and cake. A hearty red that will be the perfect winter warmer. The nose is powerful and complex, the mouth is spicy, velvety and explosive.

Valentines Côtes de Provence La Gourmande 2011 (#16-33)
$31.50

This special cuvée is elaborated only when the time is right to harvest the oldest  Syrah grapes, slightly overmatured. The production is limited and reservations are posted long in advance. The terroir is mica-schist, vinification lasts 3 to 4 weeks with punching the cap. Then the La Gourmande cuvée is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. The robe is dense with hints of violette. The nose develops aromas of red and black fruit, cherry, chocolate and leather. The maturity of tannins, the musky touch of clove, mint and violet reveal an incredible wine.  The finish is long and complex.

Grape: Syrah (90%), Grenache (10%)

Pairings: Enjoy with grilled beef, yakitori, lamb stews, cheeses.
